Paraíba's State Secretariat for Science, Technology, Innovation and Higher Education (SECTIES), created to transform the state into a hub for innovation and technological development, is responsible for coordinating, executing, controlling and guiding state public policies related to science, technology, innovation and higher education.

Its responsibilities include developing research, supporting the technology-based industry, drawing up digital transformation and automation policies, as well as promoting coordination with other government bodies and society to establish guidelines in these areas.
