Journey Stage 3
28/jun/24 15:20 - 15:40
Chile has been making games for more than 2 decades, yet since 2012 it has been participating in many international events, sometimes with more than 20 companies flying to do business, show their games or participate as nominees at festivals. The country is known for how collaborative the companies are and the good relationship they have with the government. Chile considers games art and supports them together with the filming industry, but the country also supports game development as part of the creative industries, supporting companies in their export efforts through offices around the world. This formula has led to some amazing success stories, a more diverse industry and a sustained growth, seen as universities in the country are now offering game development careers. Video Games Chile is the association that unites most of the country's development companies, that range from original game development to outsourcing. More than 100 companies are estimated to be making games in Chile, with more than 800 creatives working in the sector in a country with less than 20 million people.
