Duolingo Duo Invades Roblox

To celebrate Duolingo’s 10th birthday, we entered the metaverse and hosted a community-driven game jam. For this multi-platform event, we built a creator pack that gave creative minds the necessary tools to develop their Duolingo-inspired games on Roblox. There, we created a custom world—the Duolingo Hub—featuring a Roblox-style tag game, ‘Spanish or Vanish’. We also permeated Decentraland with the popular ‘evil Duolingo owl’ meme, making the avatar of the iconic mascot follow and playfully pester players into completing their daily lessons. With 7M+ visits and 20+ fan-made games, we increased Duolingo's presence in the metaverse—motivating language lovers to keep learning.
