Instituto Alana

Prioridade Absoluta is a program created by the Alana Institute with a mission to bring visibility to and enforce Article 227 of the Brazilian Federal Constitution, which establishes children and adolescents’ best interests as the absolute priority of families, society and the State. Through its activities, the program seeks to inform, raise awareness and mobilize people, families, organizations, businesses and public authorities to assume a shared responsibility for this constitutional duty.

The program also develops initiatives in partnership with institutions from the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary branches with the intention of demanding absolute priority to safeguarding children and adolescents’ rights in the face of violations and in the development of public policies and budgetary decisions. To this end, it develops advocacy initiatives along four lines: Access to Justice, Social-Environmental and Climate Justice, Media and Information, and Public Funds.
