The play "Jacy" tells the true story of JACY, a woman born in 1920 and whose belongings were found in 2010, inside a briefcase, abandoned at Av. Prudente de Morais, in Natal / RN. JACY, if she were alive, would be almost 95 years old,today.
The documentary play was constructed from Jacy's abandoned objects and dates back to JACY's connection to the History of the city of Natal, which in the second world war was an American base for the military and it also pictures historical moments of the dictatorship in Brazil, when JACY worked as secretary to a famous political leader.
A theme that runs through the play is the way Brazilian society treats the elders and their stories. There is a culture of super estimating the youth and discarding of the elders. Thus, Jacy represents the lives of many who grow old and have their stories literally thrown in the trash, while denouncing the neglect of society with the elders and the very fate of aging cities.
