Ochoymedio is an independent cultural and art house cinema center dedicated to the exhibition and distribution of Ecuadorian cinema and independent from the world that opened its doors in 2001. It is located in the La Floresta, a neighborhood in Quito-Ecuador. It has two cinema screens with the latest technology DCP, HD and even 35 mm, it meets the standards of professional film exhibition. Provides a cafeteria service, sale of books and specialized films. It is the headquarters of the main film festivals of Ecuador. It’s bill includes international premieres, always highlighting the Ecuadorian and Ibero-American films, retrospectives to great film directors, tributes, thematic shows, film forums, talks and film lessons. In Ochoymedio, educational and training workshops related to the cinema are also implemented. Our deep love for cinema is the main motivation for our work.

Ochoymedio Cine (Salas de Exhibición)

Ochoymedio is located in the neighborhood of La Floresta, known for it's high cultural content, in the city of Quito, Ecuador. We have two movie theaters, with 120 seats and 32 seats. Both meet the highest screening standards in DCP, HD and 5.1. We also believe in the importance of paying tribute to the formats that are part of the history of cinema, so it is also possible to show films in 35 mm. We organize thematic and retrospective shows of great directors. We try to form a curatorial process to provide a warmer space for the films that are screened in our cinema. This is a space where we consider the importance of new perspectives and of different geographies.

We also have a coffe shop where you can enjoy a glass of wine, a nice coffe or book while you wait for your movie.

8D DISTRIBUCIÓN

8D is a film distribution project, promoted by Ochoymedio, that has the support of ICCA Ecuador (Institute of Film and Audiovisualvisual Creation).

8D comes from the need to distribute films from different latitudes that have a particular point of view on powerful issues and focuses on small but strong peripheral cinematography, with which it is proposed to create new independent exhibition circuits, reaching new public and promoting the increasing consumption of quality audiovisual content. The distribution plan is composed of a business model (between the producers and OCHOYMEDIO), a model of exhibition according to the theatres proposed for the circulation of such productions.
