El Volcán is the first known anthology of current Latin American comic.
It contains self-contained comic strips of 42 cartoonists.
In recent years, from a series of new festivals, groups of authors, bookstores, publishers, magazines and specialized media, the Latin American cartoon began to generate a new set of reflections on themes, languages, traditions, influences and resources and was defining a new identity. The products of this conformation are now in sight. The artists present, in addition to a renewed and powerful creative force, a solid interest in the development of their personal styles. In this sense, El Volcano offers a tour of some of the main and most unique voices of the current cartoon of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
