Llorona Records is a record label and cultural foundation that connects traditional music from Colombia and the Caribbean with contemporary music languages and, since 2007, has created projects that bring artists, communities and organizations together through music.

The artists on the Llorona Records roster range from the English-language calypso ballads of Elkin Robinson, Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto's centuries-old Afro-Colombian Caribbean Coast cumbia legends, Nidia Gongora's Canalón de Timbiquí, to Cerrero, Diego Gómez's own electronic project that explores ancestral sounds through dub aesthetics.

Elkin Robinson

Elkin Robinson is a musician and songwriter born in Old Providence Island in the caribbean. His music is the evolution of the folklore of the region, which highlights traditional elements like mentó and calypso, executed on typical instruments, recreated with new airsn and rhythms. Elkin´s music has emerged to be the new face of the caribbean folk and calypso. Elkin Robinson has taken his music to the most important venues and festivals in Colombia and was official selected to showcase at WOMEX 2017. Internationally Elkin´s band has been invited to La Mar de Música in Spain, Wasser-musik Festival in Berlin, Jamaica, Canada, among others. Elkin´s second record, produced by Richard Blair was released in june 2017, is fueled with enchanting and powerful lyrics that further captures the essence of the original sound of the caribbean digging into the sailor folk and gospel that shaped the islanders music.

Cerrero

Brainchild of Llorona Records' Diego Gómez, blend of ritualism and futurism, rough ethereal electronic dub music made from the roots sounds of Colombia. A journey to timeless ancient sounds through echoes, reverbs, sampling and dub mixing techniques.

since the project beganin 2017, Cerrero participated in festivals like Nrmal, Yavería and Hermoso Ruido, and in the first Resident Advisor's 24/7 take of Bogota.

Nicola Cruz, Mitú and Uji have remixed Cerrero’s work in a series of tracks taking further the dub aesthetics of this fresh new act of deep electronic music coming from the heart of Llorona Records.
